Andrew Stewart is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt, competitor, and highly technical instructor known for his precision, adaptability, and submission-focused approach to the art.

Andrew began training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at age 17 and quickly found the discipline that had been missing from his early athletic experiences. Over the years, he trained under multiple respected black belts, ultimately earning his black belt in 2019 under Professor Sean Stoopman at Silverback Academy, with lineage ties to Tom DeBlass.

An accomplished competitor, Andrew has built an extensive track record in advanced Gi and No Gi divisions, earning numerous medals and accolades throughout his career. He is particularly known as a leg lock specialist, with a game developed around modern No Gi and submission-only formats. His deep understanding of competition strategy and positional control makes him a sought-after resource for athletes looking to sharpen both their technical execution and competitive mindset.

Outside the academy, Andrew balances training and instruction with work as a government contractor. When he is not on the mats, he enjoys spending time with his wife and dog and diving into his longtime passion for Dungeons & Dragons. He is also exceptionally flexible, to a degree that continues to surprise training partners and defy explanation.

Andrew brings a detail-oriented, analytical, and competition-tested perspective to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, making him a valuable instructor for practitioners at every stage of their journey.
